A Symbol of Faith
A Symbol of Faith
Bondage tis not this
symbol of mine
Not a symbol of
vanity or ungodly shrine
Protecting my heart
and sealing my mind
Daily nudges and
subtly reminds.
Keyhole it has for a
key daddy wears
Never away from his
jacket to tear
Until the day he
gives it to say
That he willingly
gives his daughter away.
A commitment
protecting me from the world’s useless mire
To joyful submission
to God’s own desire.
I will not give in to
the devil at play
Though he might try,
my heart he won’t sway.
My life this ring
guards, my heart it protects
God’s best for my
life I will humbly expect
I’ll give my purity
to someone, one day in God’s time.
Purity is a gift,
that gift is mine.
