Roses, Godiva, and Psalm 107:9

It's Valentine's day....sigh. get choked up. look off into the distance with only slight remorse and quite a bit of drama.

Don't have a date for Valentine's day? Well, you and I are in the same boat, but we might be thinking just a little bit differently about it. Does Valentine's day mean you're missing out on $20 dollar roses and Godiva chocolates from your.....how do they call it....."bae"?

Signifying two different types of females on Valentine's Day and then another very important point is the main idea of this post, so bear with me.

A lot of women are expecting a little much today. (I am in no way debunking the efforts you put into your Valentine's Day gentlemen, I am talking to the ladies here. ;) )

Getting to the primary point, so let's move on.

This may be you, A female who is very concerned about how she is going to walk around looking alive today with no date tonight. The good news is, you can....after you put a few things into perspective.

Many women miss out on the blessings of being single, so instead of feeling sorry for yourself, look for ways to bless others on Valentine's Day. Those that may not be as privileged as you or live in sub-par homes with sorrow-filled lives.

If you are a lady with a fella today, hooray! That is a blessing as well and today is certainly a day for celebrating the valuable God-given relationship between a man and a woman.

Has anyone received the newsflash about Singleness Awareness Day? Ah, yes, that is today as well. (My wonderful older, and also single, bro told me about this last night.) A day when single-pringles "celebrate" their singleness by announcing it on social media. This is an example of insecurity with your current state. Stating that you are okay with celebrating being single is a shadow of your actual resentment of not having a girl (okay guys) or not having a guy (come on gals). Take your singleness in stride, but publicly celebrating it on Valentine's Day is like using a megaphone to say "This person is making a big deal out of being single, so they must be insecure." It's a sign of what you really feel.

So if this isn't your reason for posting that you are celebrating it, I recommend posting something else as it will gather the wrong kind of attention. Take a look at Psalm 107:9.

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Are you longing for something you can't have? Are you absent from your mind today for want of some person that will satisfy your selfish desire to be appreciated for the kind of person you are? You had someone all along trying to grab your heart. Someone trying to tell you to use your gifts for his glory. Someone who could satisfy that longing soul.

It was God.

If you want a reason to link God to this holiday that seems to be quite man-made, look again. The SELFLESS act of God in granting you this inner peace and satisfaction longs to be that one thing that you love above all else. He has a sacrificial and never-ending love for you that has always been. Give over this longing for something more over to God and let Him shape and mold this into the character quality that you need to be completely peaceful. Once you surrender these areas of your life, you will be surprised at how much blessing will be in store in the years to come.

Without further ado-

Happy Valentine's Day <3

:)
