On "66"
Dear Readers this poem is based on Route 66. One of the first highways in America. That's why I called it, On "66". And when I refer to Bobby Troupe, he was an ex-Marine of WWII. He said, "Get your kicks out of Route 66!":o)
On "66"
Back in the olden times
When things were bright and new
You would feel the urge to travel
It was waiting just for you!
Route 66 a popular place
Would bring a smile to every face.
When Bobby Troupe said "get your kicks"
I wanted to travel Route 66!
When I started to travel with dirt and dust
I almost said "is this a must?"
And when I slept on the ground that night.
My heart was filled with fear and fright.
Along the road I started to find
Many things I did not mind.
All sorts of fun things to do,
I said to myself, "66 is waiting for you!"

Hi Grace, I think this is a nice poem. I've never been on 66 since I really can't anytime soon because I live in Australia. Love and God Bless, Annie-Jo
