Happy Thanksgiving!
Hello Readers!
When we think about Thanksgiving we think about getting together with friends, making sure Thanksgiving food is just right, and making sure decorations are perfect. Is that really why we remember it?
Okay, let's look at scripture. John 19 talks about his death and the pain he suffered just to set us free. If he hadn't done that, we would be totally separated from God. John 19:1-2 says,1" So Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him.
2- And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe.
If you have property with lots of woods you will know exactly what I'm talking about. The thorns they put on his head are just like the ones you have in your woods. The soldiers not only put the crown on His head, they crammed it on!
OK, now John 19:16-18 "Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led Him away.17-And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, verse 18-where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center.
Scourged means to be whipped and beaten. Jesus, after He was whipped and beaten, carried the cross,(our sins),all the way to Golgotha.
When He got there He was placed on the cross. Then, he had nine inch long and 1 inch wide nails driven through his hands and feet. Imagine, the pain that He went through.
The whipping, the mocking, the being hung up on the cross to die, was not what he was afraid of. He had the fear of being separated from God, His own Father! Now, when Jesus was on the cross and all the sins were poured upon His shoulders, God turned His back on Jesus. That was what He was afraid of. When God turned His back on Jesus, the sky turned black, and everybody screamed and ran. The curtain in the temple was also torn into. It was the most scary few minutes of all History!
So now that we know the story, what are you more focused on? Turkey day, or what Jesus Christ did for you?
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

The picture that you painted in your words was a painful gruesome one, but if you think about it, Jesus's death was not pretty. Jesus died that day. As you said, we have so much mare to be thankful for than turkey and friends. We have a savior that was bloodied and scarred for our sin. I am thankful for his death and my salvation! I am also thankful for this blog...you are setting a wonderful example of a young lady growing up in the path of our Lord! Keep up the good work! :)
